The Grumpy Hamster - A Masterpiece in Illustrated Children's Book Printing

"The Grumpy Hamster" is more than just a children's book; it's a testament to the power of spontaneous storytelling and the transformative potential of print. Written and illustrated by Sophie Johnson-Hill, the creative force behind Sojo and Mouse, this book is a shining example of what can be achieved when passion, creativity, and expertise come together.

The Story Behind the Story

The Grumpy Hamster is a tale of a cross little rodent who learns to channel his anger into something useful, thanks to the wisdom of a friendly pigeon. The story was born out of a spontaneous storytelling experiment, with Sophie recording each line on her iPhone as it came to her. The result? A simple, hilarious, and insightful story that resonates with children and adults alike.

The book was published by Sojo & Mouse, a fresh and dynamic children's publishing company co-founded by Sophie herself. The Grumpy Hamster is their first published storybook, and it's already making waves in the world of children's literature. But the magic doesn't stop at the story; the book itself is a testament to the power of print.

Illustrated Children's Book Printing: A Craft Perfected

The Grumpy Hamster was printed in a 210x210mm format, perfect for little hands to hold. The 4pp cover was printed onto 300gsm Cyclus Offset, ensuring durability and a premium feel. The 36pp text was printed onto 140gsm Cyclus Offset, providing a perfect canvas for the vibrant illustrations. The book is a fine example of how to print a perfect bound children's book resulting in a high-quality, professional finish.

But perhaps the most remarkable aspect of the book's production is its commitment to sustainability. The Grumpy Hamster was printed onto 100% recycled paper, demonstrating that quality and environmental responsibility can go hand in hand in the world of children's book printing.
